Printigly has been printing roll up standees in Bangalore since 1984 — quick turnaround, durable materials, and same-day dispatch before 4 PM for standard standee orders.
What Is a Roll Up Standee?
A roll-up standee (also called a retractable banner or pull-up banner) consists of a printed banner stored in an aluminium base unit. The banner rolls up inside the base for transport and rolls out (pulls up) for display, supported by a telescoping pole.
They’re the most portable, durable, and reusable display solution for exhibitions, retail, events, hotel lobbies, medical clinics, educational institutions, and corporate offices.
Standard Roll Up Standee Sizes in India
Common sizes available at Printigly:
- 85cm × 200cm: Most popular. Fits standard retail spaces and events. The de facto “standard” size.
- 100cm × 200cm: Wider format. More visual impact. Used for flagship displays and high-traffic areas.
- 120cm × 200cm: Wide standee. Creates a strong backdrop effect when multiple are placed side by side.
- 60cm × 160cm: Compact. Used in narrow retail spaces, medical reception desks, and tabletop versions.
- 150cm × 200cm (Premium Double): Dual-sided standee — different graphics each side.
Custom sizes are available. Provide width and height requirements when ordering.
Print Material Options for Roll Up Standees
PVC Banner (Standard)
The most common material for roll-up standees. Durable, produces vibrant colours, wrinkle-resistant when rolled. 440 GSM is standard. Works indoors and sheltered outdoor use. Most cost-effective option.
Backlit Film
Used when the standee will be illuminated from behind (LED backlit standee units). Translucent material with vivid colour reproduction. Premium visual impact. Used in retail displays and hotel lobbies.
Fabric (Tex Banner)
Knitted polyester fabric instead of PVC. Softer look, premium aesthetic, no reflection. More expensive but increasingly popular for luxury brands and hospitality. Wrinkle-resistant, washable.
All options are available at Printigly. For standard events, PVC is recommended. For premium brand environments, fabric standees create a distinctly upmarket look.
Designing for Roll Up Standees: Key Rules
Resolution Requirements
Standee files should be prepared at 100 DPI at actual print size (not 300 DPI — at 200cm height, 300 DPI would create a file too large to work with). Alternatively, design at 1/10th scale at 300 DPI (so 8.5cm × 20cm at 300 DPI for an 85×200 standee).
Viewing Distance Design
Standees are typically viewed from 2–5 metres away. This means:
- Minimum headline font size: 60mm height on the physical print (approximately 7cm tall letters)
- Body text minimum: 15–20mm height
- Main visual should be instantly readable from across a room
- Avoid fine detail that requires close inspection
Layout Best Practices
Effective standee layout (top to bottom):
- Logo / brand header (top 15%)
- Main headline (top-centre — eye level area)
- Main visual or product photo (centre)
- Key benefits (3 bullet points maximum)
- Call to action with phone/QR code (bottom 20%)
- Company details/logo footer (very bottom)
Keep the bottom 8–10cm less design-critical — the standee base unit covers this area when displayed.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the most popular roll up standee size in India?
85cm × 200cm is the standard and most popular size. It provides strong visual presence without taking up excessive floor space — fits comfortably in exhibition stalls, clinic reception areas, retail stores, and corporate office lobbies. For outdoor or high-traffic areas where visibility from distance matters, 100cm × 200cm is recommended.
How long do roll up standees last?
The aluminium base unit lasts 5–10 years with normal use. The printed PVC banner typically lasts 3–5 years indoors with regular use. For frequently-used standees, we recommend ordering replacement banners rather than replacing the whole unit. At Printigly, replacement banner prints for existing units start from ₹799.
Can I get a roll up standee printed same day in Bangalore?
Yes — for standard sizes (85×200 and 100×200) with print-ready designs submitted before 4 PM, same-day dispatch is available from our Bangalore facility. This includes printing, quality check, and packing with the aluminium base and carry bag.
