How We Print
Clear acrylic is UV flatbed-printed with a white ink base layer for opaque colour on the back surface, creating a "second surface" effect where the print is protected by the acrylic face. For vinyl overlay, high-tack cast vinyl is wet-applied and squeegeed bubble-free before edge trimming. CNC router and laser cutter used for precision shaping. Edges polished on a flame polisher for glass clarity.
FAQs
What is the difference between cast and extruded acrylic?
Cast acrylic (what we use) has superior optical clarity, uniform thickness, and machines without chipping. Extruded acrylic is cheaper but has slight thickness variation and chips at cut edges. For signs requiring polished edges and print quality, cast acrylic is always the correct choice.
Can acrylic signs be used outdoors?
Standard cast acrylic yellows in direct sunlight over 2â3 years. For outdoor use, we recommend UV-stable acrylic or our aluminium ACP boards with UV print. Short-term outdoor use (under covered veranda or porch) is fine for standard acrylic.
Can you make custom-shaped acrylic signs (logo shape cut-outs)?
Yes. Our CNC router cuts acrylic to any 2D shape including logo outlines, custom letters, and irregular shapes. A DXF or vector file of your shape is required. Custom cut shapes take 1 additional day over standard rectangular signs.
